Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

Parking Ticket Map is a public map of historical San Francisco parking-citation data. We built it to be simple and privacy-respecting. We do not require an account, and we do not sell your data.

What we do not collect

  • No accounts, names, emails, or passwords.
  • No license plates. The city dataset includes plates; we drop them during processing and never store or display them.
  • No selling, renting, or sharing of personal data, and no cross-app tracking.

Location

If you tap the locate button, your device shares your location to center the map and to look up the nearest block to you. Those coordinates are used in real time to return that result and are not stored, and we do not keep any location history or track your movements. The reminder feature uses the location of a block you choose to save, not your live position.

Reminders (app)

In the iOS app, the spots you save for street-cleaning reminders and your reminder settings are stored only on your device. Notifications are scheduled and fire locally on your phone. We do not receive or store your saved locations.

Analytics

We measure traffic and which features get used so we can improve the app:

  • Vercel privacy-friendly analytics: aggregate traffic only, no cookies and no individual tracking. Always on.
  • PostHog product analytics: turned on only if you accept the consent prompt. It uses cookies and may record anonymized sessions (typed text is masked) to help us find and fix problems. Decline and we skip it.

The data on the map

Citation and street-cleaning data come from the City and County of San Francisco (DataSF). Patterns shown are a record of past frequency, not a guarantee. Enforcement can vary, so always check the posted signs.
